Why is a sewer lateral inspection required in Santa Barbara?
Most local homes built before the 1980s use clay or Orangeburg pipes that are highly vulnerable to root intrusion. A scope is the only way to verify their condition before escrow closes.
What will your camera scope detect?
We look for roots, offsets, cracks, holes, separated joints, standing water (bellies), and improper materials or connections.
Can you locate and mark the location of a break?
Yes. We record depth/distance and can assist with approximate surface marking to help you get accurate repair bids from local plumbers.
What if there is no visible cleanout?
We will locate alternative access points, such as roof vents or removal of a toilet (additional fee may apply), to ensure the line can be inspected.
What if the line is blocked?
If roots or debris completely block the camera, we may recommend a "hydro-jet" cleaning to clear the line so we can fully inspect the pipe walls.
Do I need to be present for the inspection?
It is not required, but we welcome you to join us for the summary to see the live video feed and ask questions about the condition of the line.
